Joe’s Combiner Section

I have finally got to a point where I am roughly 95% satisfied with these lists.  I will go over what each of these decks tries to do.

Devastator

joessdccdevastator

Bonecrusher – Demolitions // 4 stars
Hook – Surgical Engineer // 4 stars
Long Haul – Transport // 4 stars
Mixmaster – Materials Fabrication // 4 stars
Scavenger – Mining and Salvage // 4 stars
Scrapper – Constructicon Foreman // 5 stars

Actions
1x Brainstorm
2x Constructicon Enigma
3x Heavy Landing
3x Pep Talk
3x Reclaim
3x Security Checkpoint
1x System Reboot
3x The Bigger They Are…
2x Vaporize
3x Work Overtime

Armor
2x Bashing Shield
1x Sparring Gear
Utility
3x Bravery
3x Data Bank
Weapons
1x Energon Axe
3x Handheld Blaster
2x Scoundrel’s Blaster
1x Thermal Weaponry

I have been focused on rushing to a tower height of 10.  Now that that is out of my system, I am going to focus on 6 being the goal.  You will be need to tweak this deck’s draw capability to your liking.  You may opt for a Backup Plan instead of a System Reboot, choose whichever you want.

Combining with a tower height of six will enable Bold 2 which is ideal for Thermal Weaponry, if not, Energon Axe is your backup plan.  Reclaim is essentially +3x of each of those weapons for late game as well as +3x Data Bank for early game with a tower height of 3.  Draw cards as fast as you can.

You opponent will learn quickly that Devastator is the opposite of everything you have played so far.  They are going to want to spread damage instead of KOing bots, for this we include Bravery to hopefully make your opponent waste big attacks on bots with insignificant hp totals.

The Bigger They Are… will help you land some early damage so Devastator doesn’t have to do all of the work.  Remember, you do not need to scrap a card every time a Constructicon attacks.  Find the tower height that is right for your play style.

Menasor

joesCWmenasors

Motormaster – Stunticon Leader // 5 stars
Breakdown – Paranoid Scout // 5 stars
Dead End – Doomed Longer // 5 stars
Decepticon Drag Strip – Cutthroat Warrior // 5 stars
Offroad – All-Terrain Soldier // 5 stars

Actions
3x Leap Into Battle
3x Pep Talk
3x Stunticon Enigma
3x Surprise Attack
2x Swindled
3x The Bigger They Are…
3x Underhanded Tactics
3x Vaporize

Armor
2x Bashing Shield
2x Force Field
3x Reinforced Plating
2x Sparring Gear
Utility
1x Security Console
1x Stunticon Swagger
Weapons
3x Handheld Blaster
3x Scoundrel’s Blaster

I’ll be honest, Menasor is not my favorite.  One of our locals has been working hard on building him correctly and he has been showcasing it well.  For this, we have included 1x Stunticon Swagger for Menasor and upped the Enigmas to 3.  You will draw it.

I believe Menasor wants to combine ASAP to start abusing his ability.  Lay on the pierce when you can.

Optimus Maximus

joesopmax

Optimus Prime – Gleaming Commander // 11 stars
Autobot Hot Rod – Impulse Fighter // 7 stars
Sunstreaker – Bold Warrior // 7 stars
KO PILE
Autobot Mirage – Counterintelligence // 7 stars
Ironhide – Steadfast Brawler // 7stars
Prowl – Strategic Mastermind // 7 stars

Actions
3x Heavy Handed
3x Pep Talk
3x Roll Out!
3x Security Checkpoint
1x Sentinel Enigma
3x The Bigger They Are…
3x Vaporize

Armor
3x Reinforced Plating
1x Sparring Gear
Utility
3x Combat Commands
3x Matrix of Leadership
2x Security Console
Weapons
3x Energon Axe
3x Handheld Blaster
2x Noble’s Blaster
1x Piercing Blaster

First thing you do is flip Mirage. Period.  Sentinels don’t really need to combine if you can abuse Combat Commands to allow Mirage to keep hitting your opponent’s hand.  You may want to add in Espionage at some point.

Multiple options for pierce are here so you don’t really need to rush to combine.  You may also feel like going up to two Enigmas at some point.

Predaking

joespredaking

Divebomb – Aerial Assault // 5 stars
Predacon Headstrong – Ground Assault // 5 stars
Predacon Rampage – Savage Hunter // 5 stars
Razorclaw – Predacon Leader // 5 stars
Torox – Fueler // 5 stars

Actions
3x Equipment Enthusiast
2x Espionage
3x Pep Talk
2x Predacon Enigma
3x Security Checkpoint
3x Underhanded Tactics
3x Vaporize

Armor
2x Bashing Shield
2x Force Field
3x Reinforced Plating
1x Sparring Gear
Utility
1x Data Bank
Weapons
3x Energon Axe
3x Energon Slingshot
3x Handheld Blaster
3x Scoundrel’s Blaster

The goal here is to lay upgrades on characters that cannot be attacked for as long as you can so when you combine, Predaking should kill something every time he attacks.
Send Headstrong out once you think your other characters might be within range of dying.  Hopefully you will have Tough on him by then to stall as long as possible.

Once you combine, just dig for weapons and Equipment Enthusiast.  You should be using Espionage for Enigmas, Disarm, and armor scrapping cards.  Other than that Predaking should be hitting hard.

If you’re going up against Volcanicus with Sludge 1 on the horizon or against Devastator, keep in mind that you might not want to rush to flip Torox.  Judge the game state.

Superion

joessuperion

2x Reinforced Plating
1x Sparring Gear
Utility
1x Security Console
Weapons
3x Armed Hovercraft
3x Handheld Blaster
2x Noble’s Blaster
2x Piercing Blaster

The Aerialbots love direct damage.  Dish it out any way you can.  Abuse all pierce options available to you before you combine.  Take into consideration when combining with Piercing Blaster, you may be able to land a hard 9 damage on something.

Just like Headstrong, send Fireflight out when you are ready to force your opponent to spread damage.

3x Handheld Blaster
2x Noble’s Blaster

Ahhhh Volcanicus, the riskiest combiner, in my opinion.  This build takes two things into consideration. 1) You treat his text box as if it was blank when you combine.  Do not get your hopes up on that first attack. 2) You fully understand that the goal here is to be annoying by playing the LONG game landing small amounts of damage and digging for your win condition, ISFing Sludge 1.

Choose your team. I have opted for Slug over Sludge.  You need to decide how to run your show.

My Blue Volcanicus has a low success rate but an oh so hilariously satisfying win condition.  You have multiple goals to pull off.
1) Grimlock needs to attack 3 times.  We aid Grimlock on this journey by supplying him with Swap Missions and Bravery.  That being the ideal turn to drop Bravery on Slug as you Swap Missions.  If you don’t get  Sludge 1 into you KO pile, I honestly don’t see how you can win.  After being Espionage’d of my Enigma, I once managed to get like 8 or 9 Dinobots in my KO pile.  Hilarious.
2)  Now that all these Dinobots are in the KO pile, how do we win?  Combine and dig for ISF.  You will eventually draw into Noble’s Blaster.  Keep pulling them in in case they get vaporized.  Keep playing armors to stall for as long as possible.
3) Joe, I’m getting pummeled and about to get KO’ed, why am I playing this?  I have no idea why you like to punish yourself, but here you are with a 55dmg Volcanicus with your opponent about to flip Metroplex to deploy Slammer on their next turn.  Luckily for you, you have chosen this list and you are going into your final turn with no cards in hand.  You draw 1 for turn and 1 for hopefully the Data Bank you have equipped by now.  Bummer, Brainstorm and Universal Network Access.  I hate you Joe.  Then, just then, a small ray of sunshine breaks thought the mini blinds you haven’t dusted in months, as you Brainstorm + UNA into ISF.  Euphoria washes over you as you slam the ISF down.  You can smell the anger emanating from your opponent.
4) Get back to chipping away at your opponent and drawing another ISF before time is called.
