Here’s another little sneak peek into what’s coming.
Typically, in the game, when making a roll, the default is rolling d6’s for your dice. Certain situations can cause dice to get added (shooting from an elevated position) or removed (shooting at a target that gets cover from terrain) from your dice pool. Typically, adding or removing dice is due to environmental factors.
Other factors can cause you to upgrade or downgrade your dice. These are typically based on skill or technology. One of example of this is how Optimus Prime has the skill “Battlefield Legend,” which states that all of his attack dice are always upgraded (so he’s always rolling d8’s at least).
Another example of this is how certain weapons have ideal or less than ideal conditions for use. Most characters will start with the bog standard Laser Carbine, which doesn’t get any upgraded dice at any range, but also doesn’t get downgraded dice at any range. On the other hand, Laser Pistols are more effective up close and less effective at a distance, so a typical character would get their attack dice upgraded to d8s while shooting at short range and downgraded to d4s if shooting at long range. Laser Rifles are the exact opposite.
